About the workshop
Kurata Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Tokyo
Yoshiyuki Kurata, the third-generation owner of Kurata Seisakusho, founded in 1875, is the only craftsman in Japan who continues to carry on traditional manufacturing methods dating back to the Edo period. Each and every pair of Edo-style hand-made tweezers is handcrafted through over 30 steps, including hammering a 3mm-thick stainless steel plate over 500 times, boasting a precision impossible to achieve with machine presses. His craftsmanship has been highly praised, earning him the Traditional Craftsmanship Award and the Arakawa Meister Award. Their quality is so reliable that they are even used in the ophthalmology department of a university hospital. Driven by the belief that "things made with care will always come out," he creates exquisite products every day, perfect for a lifetime of use. Experience the comfortable feel of these tweezers, embodied in the spirit of the artisan.
