About the workshop

Kurata Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Tokyo

Yoshiyuki Kurata, the third-generation owner of Kurata Seisakusho, founded in 1875, is the only craftsman in Japan who continues to carry on traditional manufacturing methods dating back to the Edo period. He applies the incredible technique he developed making tweezers—pulling out hairs as thin as 5/1000ths of a millimeter—to making culinary bone pickers. Each tool is painstakingly hammered out of 3mm-thick 18-8 stainless steel, undergoing over 30 processes to create a single piece. His skills have earned him Arakawa Meister certification, and he is highly regarded by professional chefs. Experience the craftsmanship of these artisans, who pour their souls into their tools, in your own kitchen.
