Isara patterns are created by stencil dyeing artists Isara Hisao and Masayuki. While using traditional techniques, they continue to create a variety of innovative and delicate patterns.
The motifs of the patterns are not limited to natural objects and landscapes, but are also characteristic of expressing images and invisible objects.
This double-sided dyed furoshiki cloth with the striking Japanese pattern of Isara has been made into an umbrella that can be used in both rain and shine.

* Stencil dyeing is a dyeing and weaving technique that has been passed down in Japan since ancient times.
It is a technique of dyeing cloth or Japanese paper using shibu-stencil paper with carved patterns and dye-resistant paste.
The patterns are created by carving stencils made from Japanese paper and persimmon tannins with a sword, and are able to express sharp lines and clear shapes.
