Hammered Copperware

Hammered copperware is a traditional technique that has been passed down in Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, for approximately 200 years since the mid-Edo period. Fukido's copperware is made using a hammering technique in which a single copper plate is annealed in a furnace and then painstakingly hammered with a variety of hammers, large and small. Hammering not only creates strength, but also gives it the unique texture and beauty that can only be achieved through handwork.
Its greatest appeal lies in the texture that deepens with use. The luster and patina will increase with daily use, and it will grow into a tool that is uniquely yours, and one you will cherish. Why not spend quality time with durable and beautiful copperware, embodied in the careful handwork of artisans?
