The Monacca Leaf Indigo (Navy) wooden bag is a lightweight yet durable wooden bag made by thinly slicing and layering high-quality cedar from Umaji Village, Kochi Prefecture. While retaining the natural wood texture, the surface is coated with a water-repellent coating, making it safe to use even on rainy days. Ecoas Umajimura Umajimura, Kochi Prefecture
Each piece is meticulously crafted by skilled artisans using Yanase cedar grown in the beautiful forests of Umaji Village, Kochi Prefecture. Producer Ueharu is working on a project to breathe new life into thinned timber in order to protect the forests that make up 96% of the village's land area. The cedar from Umaji Village, one of Japan's three most beautiful forests, is known for its flexibility and durability. Combining the wisdom of traditional forestry with modern technology, we deliver one-of-a-kind products nationwide that become more beautiful with use.
