Description

This Japanese clothing broom is gentle on clothes and smooths the surface of fabric. The large, curly bristles gently brush away dust and pet hair from winter sweaters, suits, and kimonos. Its organic finish, made with plant-dyed (safflower) silk thread, makes it ideal for caring for your precious clothing.

Care

If the tip becomes dirty, rinse it for 2-3 minutes in water or lukewarm water with a mild detergent. This method can also be used to remove any bends in the tip. After washing, dry it in the shade in a well-ventilated place (ideally during the cold season). If the tip becomes brittle, it can be effectively soaked in salt water (about 30g of salt in 1 liter of water) for about half a day.

Nanbu brooms are made by Takakura Kiyokatsu, the representative of Takakura Kogei in Kunohe Village, Iwate Prefecture. Their greatest feature is the strong "curly" tip of the broom. To achieve this curl, Takakura grows broom grass from seed, cultivating it without the use of pesticides. From harvesting in midsummer to drying, sorting, and weaving, every process is done by hand. Putting the natural environment and the health of the user first, he continues to create brooms that preserve tradition while also fitting in with modern life.
